1975

Youth Leadership & Anti-Dowry Campaign

Dr. Prabhakar led youth-centered social initiatives in Tamil Nadu, including an anti-dowry campaign that collected more than one lakh pledges from youth and families.

1980s

Community Health & Youth Service

He organized health camps, immunization drives, awareness programs, and youth service initiatives serving police personnel, transport workers, fishermen, food handlers, children, and underserved communities.

1987–1993

Health Commissioner for Wisconsin Winnebago Nation

Dr. Prabhakar served as Health Commissioner and Director for the Wisconsin Winnebago Nation, leading healthcare, prevention, education, and tribal health initiatives.

1993

U.S. Public Health Service Recognition

His public health work was recognized with the Surgeon General / IHS Director's Award of Excellence during President Bill Clinton's administration.

1993–2003

The Wellness Institute, Chicago

Dr. Prabhakar founded The Wellness Institute in Chicago, providing preventive medicine, health screenings, and wellness programs to thousands of seniors and community members.

1996–1997

Mother Teresa Legacy

Dr. Prabhakar supported efforts connected with Mother Teresa's Missionaries of Charity and later helped pioneer the initiative to name the intersection of California Avenue and Devon Avenue in Chicago as Mother Teresa Way.

Top Chicago Citizens Recognition

Dr. Prabhakar was honored by Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley as one of the Top Ten Chicago Citizens for pioneering healthcare and health education work among low-income senior residents.

Multi Ethnic Advisory Task Force

Dr. Prabhakar became Founder Chair of the Multi Ethnic Advisory Task Force connected with Congressman Danny K. Davis's 7th Congressional District.
